June 30, 2015

Jim Godbout, who overcame personal tragedies and health challenges through resilience and holistic practices like acupuncture, meditation, and mindfulness, has built a successful life and business, deeply rooted in community service and personal well-being.

Jim Godbout's life story is a testament to overcoming adversity through resilience and holistic well-being. Facing the early loss of his twin brother to leukemia, the abandonment of his family by his father, and the death of his grandfather, Godbout's challenges continued into his teenage years with the development of debilitating seizures caused by encephalitis. Despite these hardships, he found strength and direction through vocational training in plumbing and heating, which not only provided for his family but also offered him a constructive outlet. Marrying his wife Lynn and starting his own business, Jim Godbout Plumbing and Heating, were pivotal steps in his journey. Recognizing the toll of stress on both personal and professional life, Godbout turned to acupuncture, chiropractic care, yoga, and a balanced diet to manage his health. His involvement with the Rotary Club further reflects his commitment to community service, exemplified by heartfelt acts like helping a veteran in need. Godbout's approach to life, marked by early morning walks with his dog, meditation, and regular exercise, has not only helped him remain seizure-free for over 18 years but has also allowed him to enjoy a fulfilling life. His philosophy emphasizes the importance of cherishing every moment with loved ones and giving back to the community, underscoring his belief in the intertwining of personal health, professional success, and community wellbeing.
